Course selection is currently under way. Juniors, please speak to your counselor if you have any doubts on fulfilling your graduation requirements. Do not assume anything, please!
Parents, please do not feel that you are left out of this process. Call/Email us any time when you have a question. Again, do not assume! We are sending home a verification sheet later in April. You can always make changes at that point.

A word of caution for those who are interested in taking College Now classes next year. Some colleges/universities automactically consider applicants with dual (College Now) credits as transfer students, not regular freshmen. Please check with the school you are submitting your application to about their specific policy on dual credit.
ReplyDeleteI did not take an Environmental Science class at Clements, but I will be taking the AP exam in May this year. If I score a 4 or 5, will I be able to get grade point at school?
ReplyDeleteSorry for the delayed response. I did not see your posting until now.
ReplyDeleteNo, AP scores are for college credit hours mostly, though in many cases they might play a role in college admission process. They have never been used as part of GPA calculation for high school.
When juniors received their class rankings, multiple students would have the same ranking, but I noticed that when the school published class rankings in late April in the school newspaper, the 1st 30 something class rankings for graduating seniors had unique numbers. How did you eliminate duplicate rankings for those seniors?
ReplyDeleteEach year/class is different, very rarely we ended up having multiple students sharing the same rank in their final standing. Keep in mind there is almost a whole year between junior year's rank and the determination of the final rank in April. Did I answer your question?
ReplyDeleteSummer is right around the corner, juniors, what are you planning for the last summer before your senior year?
ReplyDeleteFor many students SAT/ACT may still be a thing to take care of in the fall, if that is the case, then test prep should be one of the things to do over the summer. Other things to consider, finalizing college application list, resume and application essay writing, college visits, summer jobs, community services, summer programs/camps related to the future fields of study.
Have some fun, too!!!
Does an "A" from an AP social studies class at the Rice summer school translate to a grade point of 6 at Clements?
ReplyDeleteYes.
ReplyDeleteAnd our district is offering something similar as what Rice is offering over the summer. Please stop by the commons office for details.
ReplyDeleteAP will begin on Monday, May 3rd, all students taking AP exams need to consult the list in the Commons area for exam times, locations, and materials that are needed to bring to exams. Students must report to their testing room no later than 7:15 AM for morning exams. If you have an afternoon exam, you will take 1st lunch then report to your testing room no later than 11:40 am.
